The Federation Cup semi-final clash between FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Crown Football Club was abandoned after protest erupted in the 87th minute.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah were leading 2-1 when the match referee, A. A Ibraheem disallowed a goal by Crown FC’s Yakub Ahmed.

After the goal, Assistant referee 1 pointed to the centre circle, signifying that the goal was correct while the centre referee disallowed it.

Angry fans entered the pitch to confront the referee and protest ensured.

The centre referee earlier in the game gave a controversial penalty to FC Ifeanyi Ubah with which they took a 2-1 lead.

Crow FC scored the first goal in 15th minute of play through Yakub Ahmed while FC Ifeanyiubah levelled up four minutes after.

This is not the first time a game involving FC Ifeanyi Ubah has been disrupted by protest.

In a league game between Ifeanyi Ubah FC and Heartland FC on Wednesday, March 23, a brawl ensued after Ebele Obi who is the elder brother of John Obi Mikel pushed down the referee.

It was alleged that businessman, Ifeanyi Ubah who is the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah FC stepped into the pitch to punch the goalkeeper before he was beaten by his security.

After the incident, Obi was charged for breach of Rule C11 for assaulting the referee and banned for ‎six matches.
