Fanendo Adi Nigerian player named MLS Player of the Week

Nigerian player Fanendo Adi has been named MLS Player of the Week after his impressive brace for Portland Timbers in matchday 15.

Ali scored two goals in Portland Timber’s 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday, June 10.  He now has 13 braces for Portland Timber since he joined the MLS club in 2014.


The former Dream Team V striker opened the scoring for Portland Timbers in the 30th minute, shrugging off a defender to tuck the ball past FC Dallas goalkeeper.

He had his second in the 72nd getting on the end of a cross, feigning a shot to get past the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.


For his performance, he was on Tuesday, June 13 named the MLS player of the week, his fourth time in his MLS career.

Adi is yet to play for the Super Eagles but was in the squad to face Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in March 2016.

He has two caps for Nigeria U-23.
