Manchester City midfielder Fernando's header hit the bar in stoppage time against Aston Villa

English Premier League leaders Manchester City were held by Aston Villa in a game played on Sunday, November 8.

City were still missing David Silva and Sergio Aguero and it was obvious in the first half.

The Citizens found it hard to break down the Villa defence with Micah Richards being impressive a the back against his former club.

Villa under new boss Remi Garde was tight and aggressive without the ball making it difficult for City midfield to get enough time with the ball.

City poured everything forward but could not get the winner as Remi Garde is left to celebrate his first point at Villa.

In other league game, Manchester United beat West Brom at Old Trafford 2-0.

Second half goals by Jesse Lingaard and Juan Mata gave United the three points to close the gap with the leaders.
