Togolese striker returning home to ‘face family matters’

Tottenham grant player official leave to visit homeland

In recent weeks, there had been reports of Emmanuel Adebayor in a estranged relationship with his mother who sources say he referred to as a witch.

Indications in the morning of Thursday reveal that the Tottenham striker has returned home to Togo where he is to attend to private matters.

The 30 year-old is granted a leave of absence by the club for 'personal reasons' but for how long, they did not specify.

''We can confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons.

''This is a private matter and so we will not be providing any further comment,'' Tottenham posted on Twitter

It is thought that the player is going home to attend to the lingering family issues concerning his mother.

Adebayor will not be available for the Tottenham's Europa League clash with Besiktas as a result of the leave.
