David de Gea will not feature for Manchester United in their next league game as he continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid
Manchester United goalkeeper and Real Madrid target David de Gea has been dropped for the second consecutive game.
De Gea was not included in the Manchester United squad for their last weekend opener against Tottenham.
United manager Louis van Gaal had revealed that the goalkeeper was not in his right frame of mind to man the post instead choosing to hand Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero his league debut in the 1-0 win over Spurs.
Ahead of their Friday night trip to Aston Villa, Van Gaal has confirmed that De Gea will again miss out with Romero likely to start again while Sam Johnstone will likely remain on the bench.
United won just six away games last season and Van Gaal has urged his players to improve their away form.
Van Gaal is of the opinion that his new players will need time to blend in after a lacklustre narrow win over Spurs.
"The key for success this season is improving away matches. We were one of the best last season at home, third in the league," the Dutch manager said ahead of EPL's first Friday night fixture.
"I wanted to create a fortress at Old Trafford. We did that but away we have to improve and we can improve because last year we were not good.
"Now we are in the beginning of the season and you have to survive the start because you have new players, new team, and a new team process. The team dynamics are different.
With fellow contenders Arsenal and Chelsea dropping points on matchday one, Van Gaal is not getting carried away.
"The season takes a long time, a lot of matches, that I have said after having 10 matches and only 13 points (last season), it was possible to be champions," he said.
"It is also possible for Arsenal and Chelsea to recover the points because we will lose games this season."
