Pop culture enthusiasts all over the world are very familiar with Complex’s popular ‘Sneaker Shopping’ a Youtube show where celebrities talk about their favourite shoes and also spend some cash to buy new ones.

For this episode, Complex’s Joe La Puma travelled to China during Ronaldo’s annual CR7 tour to meet with the football superstar.

During the show, the reigning World Player of the Year spoke on the inspiration behind his CR7 Nike Air Max shoe which was first unveiled in October 2017.

Known as the 'Portugal Patchwork' design, the new trainers have been designed to pay homage to Ronaldo’s mum who used to patch the forward’s shoes when he was younger.

'Good story'

“I think it’s a good story, especially for the young kids to are in the position that I am as a kid,” Ronaldo said about the CR7 Nike Air Max shoe.

“This is my history from the beginning. We didn’t have great possibilities to have Nike shoes.

“So Nike gave me the opportunity to do it in this shoes with the colour and the (CR7) badges, it’s a good idea and I’m so proud of the shoes.”

Speaking further on the show, Ronaldo revealed that he keeps some shoes for special games.

“I have a few ones of course because my history, my legacy you have to keep it with some memories,” the former Real Madrid star said.

“Of course I keep some boots, in my house, in my museum so I have a lot.”

He also spoke on his love for the Air Force One and his self-designed Nike CR7 EXPs and splashed about N1m ($3, 470) on some sneakers.
