Player eyes long-term Arsenal stay
Akpom who joined Arsenal when he was six, says he has enjoyed his time at the club and hopes for a long-term stay with the Gunners.
“I played football with my friends on the street before signing for Arsenal. It has been fun so far and hopefully it can go longer,” the 20-year-old told Pulse TV in an interview.
The forward revealed that he was five when he started playing football, but just for fun.
“I started when I was five, just for fun, playing with my dad in the park,” he said.
“As I got older, I started to get serious and I began to think I could have a career in professional football.
He joined a local team in East London where Arsenal scouts saw him.
“I had a few training sessions and they wanted to sign me and I’ve been there ever since,” he said.
Akpom spent last seasonat Hull City where he scored seven goals as the Tigers got promoted to the Premier League.
