After serving jail term for ‘rape’, Welsh footballer is returning to Sheffield United

According to a report, Ched Evans is on the verge of rejoining Sheffield United in a £500,000 transfer deal.

Evans was a Sheffield United player before he was released in 2012 after he was sentenced to five years in jail for raping a 19-year-old woman.

Evans who has always insisted that he is innocent of the rape charge had his convictioncancelled in a retrial in October 2016, which means he never committed the crime.

He has since returned to football and currently plays Chesterfield in League One, the third tier of the English football league system.

According to Daily Mail, he is on the verge of rejoining Sheffield United in a £500,000 transfer deal.

A deal has already been agreed between the two clubs and the 28-year-old will also his earnings triple at Sheffield United.

Sheffield United tried to re-sign the forward when he was first released from prison but backed out after backlash from fans.
