Bendel Insurance return to NPFL after 10 years
Football returns to Edo State after 10 years as Bendel Insurance secure NPFL ticket by beating Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
The Edo State based side secured a ticket to the NPFL after a 1-0 win over Shooting Stars of Ibadan in a Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 encounter played at the Enyimba International Aba Stadium on Wednesday, January 9.
Charles Omokaro scored the only goal of the fiesty encounter to give Bendel Insurance three wins from three games with nine points, five goals scored and three clean sheets.
With the tournament still ongoing, Bendel Insurance are the first team to progress to the NPFL from the eight teams as several other sides battle for the remaining slots to the first division.
The NPFL is expected to start on Sunday, January 13 with three other teams set to advance from the NNL Super 8.
Gombe United, Kada City pick up NPFL ticket
Gombe United and Kada City have picked up the two tickets for the Northern conference at the NNL Super 8.
They both met in their final group[ game with identical records, of a win and draw in their last two games.
Kogi United beat Real Stars in the other group game but Gombe and Kada picked up the tickets with a goalless draw ending their group phase with five points each.
Remo Stars pick final ticket
Remo Stars picked up the final ticket from the Southern Conference after a 2-1 win over Delta Force thanks to goals from Aloma Idris in the 21st minute and Victor Mbaoma in the 72nd minute.
