Dallas Cowboys player Michael Sam sidelined for the rest of the NFL season

After opening his sexuality to the public, Michael Sam will not be featuring in the NFL this season; though he will be training with new team Dallas Cowboys

NFL club Dallas Cowboys, announced they have signed the 24 year-old to their practise squad

He will now join the 53 man roster squad in training but not will take part in official games

Jerry Jones, owner and president of Dallas Cowboys said: "The facts are that, if he's good enough to develop as a practice squad (player) and could evolve -- as many players do -- ... into a contributor, then that would be a plus for the Cowboys.

He "is going to have to make for a little speed (and) make up for a little size.

"That's what makes football," Jones added.

Michael Sam is the first NFL player to come out clean about his sexuality; he was a draft for St. Louis Rams.
