Chambers at 19 has started 21 games so far this season for Arsenal
19 year-old Chambers has started 21 games for Arsenal since joining from Southampton in the summer; a number which increases if substitutions and national team appearances are counted.
Frenchman Wenger admits that he is left with little option to rest the combative defender, when injury has hit him his team so bad.
"For a 19-year-old, he has played too many games," Wenger told reporters
"They all hit the wall after 15 to 17 games. You have to give them a breather, let them refresh and get them back again.
"To have that responsibility in every single game is a lot for a player of that age."
Wenger does however think that the defence would be more stable and the youngster getting more rest when Mathieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny make their comeback.
"When Koscielny comes back and Debuchy being back, we will be more stable. Even in midfield we need to get our players back from injury and to defend better there as well.
"We had no stability at the back and when you look at the number of players who played centre-back this season, it's not easy."
