NFF president says Giwa wants to disrupt 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign

Pinnick has hit out at Giwa, saying the faction leader aims to sabotage Nigeria’s quest to qualify for a sixth World Cup.

NFF President, Amaju Pinnnick

Giwa has always claimed that the September, 2014 election which put current president in office was faulty but his case has been ruled out by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

Despite failed attempts to secure legal backings to his claims, Giwa keeps trying to force his way into the office of the NFF.

Pinnick has now hit out at Giwa, saying he aims to sabotage Nigeria’s quest to qualify for a sixth World Cup.

“Giwa is a major distraction and their main aim, from A to Z,  is to ensure Nigeria do not qualify for the next World Cup after we promised Nigerians we will,” Pinnick said at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, June 7.

Pinnick further urged all stakeholders not to lose focus despite the distractions.

“We cannot afford any distractions, not from anywhere. We have an objective of qualifying for Russia 2018 and that is not what we can negotiate, Pinnick also said.

The FIFA World Cup qualifiers begin in October and will run till November 2017 while the draw for the qualifiers will be staged in Cairo, Egypt on Friday, June 24.
