Despite initial inconsistency in the report of how much Victor Osimhen cost Napoli, it has now been established the actual figure the Italian club paid for the Nigerian striker.
While initial reports had it that Napoli paid €50m-plus add-ons for the 21-year-old, more reliable sources have confirmed the actual fee to be €71.2m plus €10.1m in guaranteed bonuses.
With the base transfer fee of €71.2m, Osimhen has made some records in the transfer market.
Most expensive Nigerian player
With the Napoli move now confirmed, Osimhen is currently the most expensive Nigerian player ever.
With the €71.2m Napoli paid for him, the Super Eagles striker has commanded more fees than the likes of Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa.
Second most expensive African player
Osimhen is the second-most expensive African player of all time. The €71.2m he cost Napoli is second to only the £72 million Arsenal paid for Lille for Côte d'Ivoire international Nicolas Pepe.
Fifth-most expensive signing in Serie A history
The Serie A has seen a host of expensive signing including Osimhen’s move to Napoli which is the fifth-most expensive signing in the Italian topflight.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Matthijs de Ligt all by Juventus and Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan) are the only players more expensive than Osimhen in Serie A history.
