Arrest sums up player's torrid stint in England

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the forward who also recently quit as assistant captain of the Super Eagles.

Ahmed Musa

“In Musa and Vardy, @LCFC might just have the quickest pair of strikers in the history of football,” England legend Gary Lineker tweeted after Ahmed Musa was signed by Leicester City last summer.

Seven months later, Lineker, a former Leicester City player made another comment about Musa but this time not in an enthusiastic tone like the first.

“Defend Claudio to the end after last season but his faith in Musa is baffling. Now I've said it, please prove me wrong,” Lineker tweeted in February.

These opposing views from Lineker are regular with all Leicester City fans and Premier League enthusiasts.

Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City won the Premier League last season with their devastating pace at which they attack.

They defend, soak in pressure and then, like lightning, the ball is pumped forward into the path of Jamie Vardy, goal.

Game after game, attack after attack, it worked and Leicester City shockingly won the Premier League title.

When Ranieri splashed a then club record of £16.6m on Musa, many thought the manager was about to stick to the same counter-attacking tactics.

Musa on the wings, Vardy upfront, pace, pace, pace. But that was not to be.

After an explosive start, especially in pre-season- remember his brace in a friendly game against Barcelona- Musa has been dire for Leicester City.

With just four goals in 29 appearances, Musa's Leicester City days are certainly numbered.

He was said to be one of the reasons why Ranieri fell out with most of his senior players who revolted against the Italian manager before he was sacked.

Since the sacking of Ranieri, Musa has not been listed in any matchday squad as he has reportedly fallen out with the new manager, Robert Shakespeare.

To add to his woes at Leicester City, the Nigeria international was in the early hours of Wednesday, April 5 arrested and questioned by the UK police for allegedly beating his wife.

No charges were brought against the 24-year-old as police could not find any evidence to the case but that it can't get any worse than this.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the forward who also recently quit as assistant captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

With his international career also in doubt, Musa needs a move away from Leicester City and maybe England entirely to restart his career.
