Ghana To Bid For AFCON 2017

Ghana's sports minister Mahama Ayariga announces that the country will place a bid for the tournament

West African country, Ghana will bid to hosting right to the 2017 African Nations Cup

The country's sports minister Mahama Ayariga disclosed this via his twitter handle on Tuesday

Ghana is favoured to host the bi-ennial tournament after Libya, who had been awarded hosting right to 2017, pulled out, citing security reasons due to an escalation of tensions within its territory

CAF announced the withdrawal of Liby:

However, it will have to fight off competition from any other country that would be interested in hosting

CAF set September 30 as the deadline for indication of interest and submission of forms

Should Ghana win the right, it will be the second time they would stage the AFCON.
