FC Nantes striker opts to help coach in domestic campaign.
FC Nantes of France striker Ismael Bangoura will not be representing his home country, Guinea at next year’s Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea after he confirmed non-participation for club commitments.
“At 29 years of age, I am reaching a crucial point in my career. I went through difficult times without giving up, and as my coach is putting his faith in me I cannot afford any longer to have it both ways,” Bangoura said following their 2-1 win at Lorient on Saturday.
“I want to give back to the club what they have given to me.”
Guinea kicks off its campaign in the tournament which holds from January 17-February 8 against Cote D’Ivoire before facing Cameroon and Mali in Group D.
