2018 FIFA World Cup Algeria held by Cameroon in qualifier

Algeria were held to a 1-1 draw at home to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

With the Super Eagles of Nigeria already taking the three points against Zambia in the other Group B game, Algeria, favourite of the group were looking to go level with a win.

They started the brighter side with the home crowd behind them and got an early goal.

El Arabi Soudani gave Algeria the lead in the seventh minute.

Algeria continued to press while Cameroon also grew gradually into the game.

They were rewarded with an equaliser in the 24th minute through Benjamin Moukandjo.

Algeria did all they can for the winning goal but Cameroon held on for an important point.

Nigeria lead the group with three points, Algeria and Cameroon joint-second with a point each while Zambia are bottom with zero points.

 

The winner of the group automatically qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup holding in Russia.
