Muhammad Ali Tyson, Mayweather, Pacquiao, others mourn late boxing legend

Regarded as the greatest professional boxer in the history of the sport, Ali recorded 37 victories in the ring in his professional career.

Boxing legend, Muhammad Ali, whose outstanding record-breaking career, showmanship and political stands set him apart as one of the best-known figures of the 20th century, died on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the age of 74.

Ali, who had long suffered from Parkinson's syndrome which impaired his speech, died in a phoenix, Arizona hospital following a short battle with a respiratory illness.

Regarded as the greatest professional boxer in the history of the sport, Ali recorded 37 knockout wins in the ring in his professional career, according to BoxRec.

Since Ali's death was announced, social media platforms have been overwhelmed with tributes from other boxing champions including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, George Foreman, Ali’s opponent in the legendary ‘Rumble in the Jungle,’ and several personalities across the world.

 

Former eight-weight world champion, Manny Pacquiao, who is now a politician in Philippines, also mourned late Ali.

"We lost a giant today. Boxing benefited from Muhammad Ali's many talents but not nearly as much as mankind benefited from his humanity," he said in a statement.
