Ali, who had long suffered from Parkinson's syndrome which impaired his speech, died in a phoenix, Arizona hospital following a short battle with a respiratory illness.

Since Ali's death was announced, social media platforms have been overwhelmed with tributes from other boxing champions including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, George Foreman, Ali’s opponent in the legendary ‘Rumble in the Jungle,’ and several personalities across the world.
Former eight-weight world champion, Manny Pacquiao, who is now a politician in Philippines, also mourned late Ali.
"We lost a giant today. Boxing benefited from Muhammad Ali's many talents but not nearly as much as mankind benefited from his humanity," he said in a statement.
