The ban by the Federal Government was communicated by Sunday Dare Minister of Youth and Sports Development.

The ban meant that the national teams will have to withdraw from representing the country in international competitions.

However, in a shocking turn of events, the ban was confirmed to be lifted on Wednesday, June 23, 2022.

The Permanent Secretary of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Ismaila Abubakar said the Federal Government has reversed the Basketball withdrawal of the country from International competitions.
