Patoranking takes centre stage after winning Best New Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).  All eyes are on him as we patiently await his debut album. Here’s a list of everything you need to know about the reggae/dancehall singer from his music to his background.

1. His real name is Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie.

2. Patoranking was once affiliated with Timaya’s Dem Mama Records. His rise to fame began after the release of ‘Alubarika‘ featuring Timaya.

3. In 2014, the signer signed to a record label called Foston Musik.

4. Asides from his MAMA award, the dancehall act has previously won African Artiste of the year at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards. He won Next Rated act, Best Collabo and the Best Reggae and Dancehall categories at the 2014 Headies.

5. He grew up in Lagos, but is originally from Ebonyi State in South eastern Nigeria.

6. He is a Skyy Vodka Nigeriaand Airtelbrand ambassador.

7. He is the first Nigerian/African dancehall artist to sign a distribution deal with VAL Music owned by the world’s biggest reggae company VP records.

8. He takes his big brother duties seriously.  In a throwback picture on Instagram five days ago, he shared that his siblings inspire his work.
