It’s seemingly like feminism is the new rave in Nigeria, and due to a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions, the idea of ‘FEMINISM’ is being seriously tarnished by people who do not know better.
As a matter of fact, if you’re a millennial living in the 21st century, regardless of your sex, you are most likely a feminist.
It’s a sad sight to see online where the beautiful feministic idea is getting a lot of backlash, insults, disregard, and disrespect; just because some set of women has turned it into a fallacy.

What is feminism?
Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes.
This includes seeking to establish educational and professional opportunities for women that are equal to those for men. For example, starting a movement that allows women get an equal pay with that of a man when they work the same hours, campaign for women's rights, including the right to vote, to hold public office, to work, to earn fair wages or equal pay, to own property, to receive education, to enter contracts, to have equal rights within marriage, and to have maternity leave.
Feminists have also worked to ensure access to legal abortions and social integration, and to protect women and girls from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Changes in dress and acceptable physical activity have often been part of feminist movements.
Although feminist advocacy is, and has been, mainly focused on women's rights, some feminists, including Bell Hooks, argue for the inclusion of men's liberation within its aims because they believe that men are also harmed by traditional gender roles!
Yes! This is because due to what we were born into, we expect members of each sex to act in a particular way, regardless of whether is causes them harm.
Personally, I feel that bitter women online are a leading cause to this misconception and as such, I found it imperative to address this idea!
Feminism is all about making life easier for women in a patriarchal system and society where women are often below the rung and make up a major part of the grunt economy. It is also to ensure that regardless of gender roles, everyone is happy doing what they do best!
Take note and thank you!
