NHL-National Hockey League roundup

May 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival will miss the remainder of the Stanley Cup playoffs after he fractured his left ankle Thursday in Game 4 of the Western Conference second-round series against the Minnesota Wild.

"He will require surgery to repair it. He is not expected to return to full hockey activity until next season," Blackhawks Dr. Michael Terry said.

The Blackhawks advanced to the Western Conference finals for the fifth time in seven years with a 4-3 victory over the Wild on Thursday night.

Babcock told the Detroit Free Press the permission doesn't necessarily mean an end of his 10-year tenure with the Red Wings.

"People can read it into it what they want," Babcock told the newspaper. "There is no decision made at all. We really like it here. My family loves Detroit."

Babcock's contract with the Red Wings expires June 30.
