The New Patriotic Party, NPP has stated the noble dreams of the youth which flourished under the NPP government have now become nightmares under the President Mahama.

"At present, the issue of unemployment has notoriously assumed legendary dimensions. Yet, government displays nothing by wanton cluelessness and ineptitude in respect of how to effectively deal with this national crisis with the necessary finesse." A statement from the party's youth organizer Sammy Awuku said.

Today is international youth day under the theme "Youth Civic Engagement"

The actual unemployment figures in Ghana are still to be determined.

Sammy Awuku said the youth in the country have been left in a sorry state claiming the national youth employment has been replaced with the unemployed graduates association.

He said the private sector which could have helped to absorb the unemployed is also grappling with the energy crisis where "businesses have over the past few years been hit with rather high cost of production with the resultant effect of unprecedented job cuts."

The NPP is therefore charging the youth to take their destiny into their own hands "by becoming Agents of Change from the current status quo which militates against their personal and self advancement."
