Three militants from Islamic State, all foreign nationals, who attacked Turkish security forces in 2014, were given lifetime jail sentences on in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The Dogan News Agency said some were given multiple life sentences, in addition to fines.

In the March 2014 attack, a police officer, a soldier and a truck driver were killed, after the militants were stopped at a roadblock.

Islamic State, starting last year, has been blamed for a series of suicide bombings in the country, including in the capital Ankara and in Istanbul.
