South Sudan rebel to join peace summit in Juba in Nov, says official

South Sudan said on Thursday it would host a meeting in Juba of regional leaders on Nov. 19 on implementing a peace deal, and those attending would include rebel leader Riek Machar who has not been to the capital since conflict erupted two years ago.

"The prime minister of Ethiopia will be accompanied by the opposition leader Dr Riek Machar, who is the head of the rebel movement, to participate in that summit," presidential spokesman Ateny Wek Ateny told a news conference.

Rebels could not immediately be reached for comment.
