Terrorists might have been behind the crash of the Germanwings Flight 9525 crash.

For one, CNN reports that the crash occurred midway into the flight as opposed to landing or take-off which is usually when plane crashes happen.

Most importantly too, there was no distress call and the plane dropped from an altitude of 38,000 feet for 8 minutes, something which has been described as highly unusual.

Although no details have been established yet, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said"we cannot completely rule out terrorism, but it is not considered the most likely explanation at the moment. We need to let the investigation do its work."

Meanwhile the nationalities of the fated flight's 150 passengers have begun to emerge with reports saying there were 2 Americans on board the flight.

Other nationalities include Germany, Spain, Britain, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Australia, Colombia, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Israel, Morocco and Turkey.

Marseille prosecutor, Brice Robin also said investigators have started the process of identifying victims' bodies but that the effort it will take time to complete.

Meanwhile German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy arrived near the crash site in the French Alps, earlier today.

Also Ulrich Wessel, the head teacher at a German school that lost 16 students and 2 teachers on the Germanwings flight, said the crash has left him "almost speechless" and that the loss is "inconceivable."
