83-year-old Tutu has been forced to cancel travel plans for the rest of the year to enable him receive the new medication for "the prostate cancer he's been living with for the past 15 years."

Nobel Peace Prize winner, Desmond Tutu is set to begin a new phase of treatment for prostate cancer, his foundation has said.

This was revealed in a statement by the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation on Tuesday, December 9.

The archbishop’s daughter and director of the foundation, Mpho Tutu stated that her father was originally meant to attend a meeting of Nobel Peace Prize laureates in Rome this week but had to shelve his plans for the purpose of the treatment.
