Residents of Santiago, Chilean capital fled their homes on Wednesday, September 16, after a massive earthquake shook the foundation of their buildings.

According to BBC, the earthquake occurred off the coast, about 144 miles (232km) north-west of the capital at about 19:54 local times (22:54 GMT).
No casualties were ascertained as at press time, but evacuation was ordered in the coastal areas of the capital. Reports say Tsunami sirens were heard in the port of Valparaiso..
"Tsunami waves reaching more than three metres above the tide level are possible along some coasts of Chile," the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center later warned.

It also also issued a tsunami watch for Hawaii.
