RedMi 2, Mi 4 smartphones to launch in Nigeria courtesy MIA Group, Jumia partnership

In just five years, Xiaomi has managed to snag a $45 billion valuation and become the world’s fifth largest smartphone maker, taking the fight to veterans like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.

MIA Group has announced that it will partner with online e-commerce platform Jumia to exclusively launch the two of Chinese startup wonder Xiaomi’s smartphones in Nigeria.

In just five years, Xiaomi has managed to snag a $45 billion valuation and become the world’s fifth largest smartphone maker, taking the fight to veterans like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.

“We have seen such a strong appetite for quality smartphones in Nigeria that we look very much forward to providing consumers with more high-end smartphone options at incredible prices,” said Jumia Nigeria CEO Jeremy Doutte, on the partnership.

According to a report by Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, the RedMi 2 and Mi 4 will be introduced into the Nigerian market in the second week of November via a dedicated site and will retail for N29,000 and N56,000 respectively.

“We see Nigeria as a key country for smartphone growth and we are excited to be partnering with Jumia to offer consumers in Nigeria Xiaomi’s high-quality smartphones at amazing prices,” said RJ Van Spaandonk, president of MIA Group.

The RedMi 2 smartphone comes with a laminated 4.7-inch HD screen and an 8MP primary camera, while the flagship Mi 4 has a stainless steel frame and sports a 5” IPS full HD display, a 13MP primary camera, and an 8MP front camera.
