Over the years, Twitter's board has come under fire for various reasons, chief of which included the fact that most of the people on the social media giant's board, barely tweet.
Social media giant appoints Debra Lee, CEO of BET to its board
Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of Black Entertainment Television (BET), was named to the board of Twitter directors yesterday Monday, May 16, 2016.
The argument was that observers didn't see how appointing people who didn't interact much with the platform was supposed to be beneficial to the platform in any way.
However, Twitter has appointed a new board member - and she actually tweets.
Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of Black Entertainment Television (BET), was named to the board of Twitter directors yesterday Monday, May 16, 2016.
Unlike other additions to the Twitter board in recent time, Lee falls amongst the board's most frequent tweeters. Overall, most of the new additions to the Twitter board are the ones that have tweeted the most.
Some of them include Martha Lane Fox, PepsiCo chief financial officer Hugh Johnston - who has tweeted close to 18,000 times, and Twitter co-founder Ev Williams who has tweeted nearly 8,000 times.
Lee's hire matches with CEO Jack Dorsey's announcement in April that he would be bringing more diversity to the Twitter board in that she is a successful minority businesswoman.
