Streaming platform announces paid subscription plan called "Go"

Media reports reveal SoundCloud has announced the launch of its paid subscription service named SoundCloud Go.

It costs $9.99 per month and will offer ad-free, offline listening, the company said in an announcement.

"SoundCloud Go represents our vision of the future of music streaming: a platform for creators to collaborate on; for fans to discover the latest tracks, enjoy legendary music and connect with their favorite artists; and for our unique creative community to have the opportunity to be paid for their work," said Alexander Ljung, SoundCloud Founder and CEO.

"We are proud to offer the ultimate music streaming choice for both artists and fans and, together with the music industry, enable artists at all stages of their careers to be heard on SoundCloud."

"Having deals in place with all three major music labels means we can continue to build a unique platform and empower our community of more than 18 million artists to share their work and connect directly with their fans. It also means listeners will have even more excellent music and audio to discover," the company said in the announcement.

This announcement follows SoundCloud's newly announced partnership with Sony Entertainment.
