Reports reveal that a major shake-up at the Kenyan offices of Korean tech giant, Samsung, has resulted in the departure of more than 20 senior managers at the firm.

Among the 26 officers reported to have left the company is Robert Ngeru, now former East Africa vice president and chief operating officer for Samsung, along with other senior and mid-level executives who have left the company since the beginning of the year.

AsokoInsight reports that Ngeru, who has been pushing for a Samsung assembly plant in Kenya, stated that he has tendered his resignation and was serving notice till the end of the month.

Manoj Changarampatt, who served as the company’s IT and mobile director in East and Central Africa, Albert Kigada, printer division product manager, Mukunya Mugo, human resource manager, and Danish Oyugi, country manager, handheld products, make up the list of some of the other executives that have left the company before Ngeru.

AsokoInsight reports that Oyugi has since joined Lenovo as business head, East Africa while Ngeru is touted as saying he is leaving the electronics business altogether.

Ngeru has been with Samsung since 2010, after previously working as mobile communications manager for Microsoft and general manager at Motorola.

Samsung has so far refused to comment on the mass exodus of the top executives, choosing instead to issue a holding statement.

Some experts have attributed the mass exodus to the company’s recent bad revenue run. The company reported a 64% revenue drop for the October-December 2014 period.
