The Central Bank Of Nigeria has announced that Nigerian conduct about N1.5 billion worth of transactions via POS terminals daily.

Mr. Dipo Fatokun, Director, Banking and Payment System Department (BPSD), CBN, made this known in Abuja on Wednesday at the CBN’s e-Payment incentive scheme (EPIS) cash reward presentation.
The incentive scheme is aimed at rewarding users of electronic payments platforms in Nigeria and encourage the members of the public to indulge in greater patronage of the government’s cashless policy.
In addition to that, the scheme also aims to further encourage financial inclusion.
Fatokun also said that the use of POS terminals in the country had increased from 5,000 in 2011, before the introduction of the cashless policy, to about 120,000 desktop terminals in 2015.
