Five-time FIFA World Footballer of the Year, Messi, joins Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandoski, and Arsenal frontman, Alexis Sanchez, as Huawei's global ambassadors.

"Lionel Messi will help our brand to encourage people to focus, persevere and breakthrough. We both honour the path we walked to what we have achieved, and with each new challenge, we renew our commitment to find the path to success," says President of the handset business unit at Huawei, Kevin Ho.

"We are happy to announce our collaboration with an extraordinary individual who inspires people all over the world to pursue their dreams, to face challenges to become better with each day," added Tyron Liu, CEO Huawei Latin America.

In the last few years, Huawei has partnered with several football teams including Santa Fe, Sporting Cristal, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan.

"You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and go all in, always looking forward to achieving greatness. The day you think there are no improvements to be made, you have to keep working to reach other achievements," say Messi of the partnership.

Huawei is currently one of the top three smartphone manufacturers in the world, alongside Apple and Samsung.
