South Korean tech firm launches second gen G Pad II 8.0

For all intents and purposes, the LG G Pad II 8.0 design is similar to its predecessor.

Second generation G Pad II 8.0

Multiple media reports reveal that LG has launched the second-generation of its G Pad 8.0 tablet in Korea and the device's promo page now up on the company's country-specific website. The page highlights some of the features and specifications of the G Pad II 8.0, but there are no price or availability details. The first generation G Pad was launched in May last year.

For all intents and purposes, the LG G Pad II 8.0 design is similar to its predecessor. However, the tablet features a full-size USB port, which, I assume, can be used to connect with portable drives, keyboards, and gaming controllers, and charge other devices as well.

The new tablet comes with a slimmer capacitive stylus than the first gen version coming in at 3.5mm width. There is external storage support via microSD card (up to 128GB) with the company's own LG-QPair 2.0 app, Microsoft Office apps and Quick Memo+ feature among others. There is a KnockON feature also included.

As for specifications, the LG G Pad II 8.0 tablet  is equipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop-based, an 8-inch WXGA (1280x800 pixels) resolution IPS display like the first-gen version, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, sporting 1.5GB RAM, just a slight upgrade from the previous generation's 1GB.

The LG G Pad II 8.0 includes an inbuilt 32GB of storage, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity options. There are no details yet on the camera resolution.

Measuring 210.8x124.2x8.95mm, the tablet device weighs 347 grams and is backed by the same 4200mAh battery in the first gen G Pad. For color, the tablet would be available in Titanium Black and White variants. For now, the company has not detailed connectivity options comprehensively, but an LTE version should also be launched.
