Next edition in Apple's smartphone series could have a curved screen

Fresh off the iPhone 7, Apple is considering big changes, including a curved screen, for iPhone 8.

Suppliers for the technology brand stated that they were asked to “increase output of thinner organic light emitting displays and submit prototype screens with better resolutions that ones from Samsung”. In simpler terms, they’ve been told to make shinier, clearer, curved screens that are better than Samsung’s.

However, reports also state that Apple is considering more than 10 prototypes for the iPhone, so, depending on how things go, a curved screen might not get the nod.

Remember the run-in to the release of theiPhone 6 and 7? We heard rumours of a curved iPhone screen back then. Evidently, curved screens are not enough for Apple, there’s also the idea that at least one of the new iPhones could include an OLED display.

There are also rumours that Apple is considering taking the iconic home button out of the phone in favor of a virtual home button like one would find on most Android phones. The change is most likely to first come on the next edition of the iPad.

Reports also state that the iPhone lineup in 2017 will include three devices: two 5.5-inch models differentiated by their displays, and a 4.7-inch model. The larger models will likely include dual cameras.

Looks like Apple has a lot beneath their sleeve for 2017.
