Photo sharing app adds 5 new filters after 2 years

The Facebook-owned photo-sharing app last introduced new filters, Mayfair and Willow, back in 2012.

Instagram has finally launched five new photo filters for its app for Android and iOS, after two years.

The 5 new filters launched by Instagram since 2012 are Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua.

"Inspired by the photography, art, fashion and design of the global Instagram community, we're releasing five new filters that we believe are our best yet," stated the blog post. "They soften and subtly shift colours to achieve the look and feel you want for your each photo."

Since there are now five new filters for the app, Instagram has also changed the way with which filters are shown so that users can access them easily. Now, when the users apply filters to their images, they will see the blurred preview of each filter at the bottom. Users will also be able to place their favourite filters before others in the list by tapping on the new 'Manage' button at the end of the filter tray.

The updated Instagram app version 6.4.0 will be available starting Wednesday for iOS and as version 6.12.0 for Android via Google Play.

Instagram recently introduced verified badges for celebrity accounts so that other users can reach their favourite personalities easily without facing any fake accounts.

It was also announced that Instagram now has over 300 million monthly active users. Notably, the app got featured in the Apple's Best of 2014 app list.
