World event to hold in 160 countries, $100 million earmarked for entrepreneur support

At this year’s event, 10 million people are expected to participate in 30,000 events that are all aimed at inspiring & informing young minds.

Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) has announced that its Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 will be held in 160 countries worldwide from November 16th – 22nd.

At this year’s event, 10 million people are expected to participate in 30,000 events that are all aimed at inspiring & informing young minds. Competitions to help founders sharpen their skills will also be held, with $100million earmarked to help entrepreneurs launch new startups while creating innovations that can change the world.

Activities and competitions for the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 include Startup Open, a global competition for startups where 50 of the most promising ventures around the world are identified and pitted against each other, the grand prize winner will head to Medellin, Colombia on an all-expenses paid trip for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in March 2016. Another competition earmarked for the Global Entrepreneurship Week is the Startup Nations Summit, which is aimed at facilitating the exchange of ideas among tech-savvy policy advisors and startup community leaders. The Summit will hold in Monterrey, Mexico and it will serve as the finale of the Global Entrepreneurship Week on November 22nd.

Jonathan Ortmans, President of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, summing up the week-long event in one sentence, said “Global Entrepreneurship Week provides a shot of adrenaline at one concentrated moment to help provide nascent entrepreneurs with access to research, programs and network they need to maximize their potential.”

During the event, The Global Entrepreneurship Index, which offers a detailed look at the entrepreneurial ecosystem of 132 countries, will be released.

The Index will provide a backdrop for policy-driven discussions at Global Entrepreneurship Week related events across the world.
