GE, Tony Elumelu Foundation have partnered to train entrepreneurs

The program will expose participants to a wide range of topics that are important for manufacturing and design in today's world.

General Electric (GE) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) have announced a partnership that would allow 25 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program entrepreneurs to participate in a four-week advanced manufacturing training program annually at GE's Lagos Garage.

GE's Lagos Garage is a hub for advanced manufacturing-based strategy development, innovation, idea generation and collaboration.

“We are happy to collaborate with a reputable organization such as the Tony Elumelu Foundation on this skill building initiative. There is a lot of alignment between TEF and GE’s commitment to the development of Nigerian entrepreneurs and we look forward to seeing some great success stories from TEF participants on the training program," said Patricia Obozuwa, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at GE Africa.

In her comment, Parmindir Vir, CEO at the Tony ELumelu Foundation said: “We welcome the collaboration with GE, world’s top 10 most innovative companies, to spur the growth of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurs, Nigeria’s new innovators. This program will help them to further develop their products and business models as a follow up to the Foundation’s entrepreneurship programme."

They will learn to hone their skills in communication, teamwork, creativity skills and push the excellence of design practice as well as bring concepts to reality.

GE created the Garages program in 2012 to encourage interest in invention, innovation and manufacturing. The Lagos Garage launched out of the GE offices in Lagos in December 2016.

The TEF entrepreneurship program is a 10-year $100 million commitment to identify, train, mentor and fund 10,000 entrepreneurs to make them capable of driving change across Africa.
