MTN, TD Mobile unveil much-awaited Android smartphone

The ICE 2 Android smartphone comes fully equipped with the latest software and security updates including Android 7.0, Google Play Protect, Street View and G-Board.

Thursday September 14 witnessed a night of glitz, glamour and excitement as Nigeria’s biggest telecoms company MTN and Sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest mobile devices distributor, TD Mobile unveiled the much-awaited Google-backed Android smartphone, Freetel ICE 2, at a well-attended event held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The ICE 2 smartphone, which Google CEO Sundar Pichai spoke about on a visit to Nigeria in July, sells for N13,000.

In attendance at the event was a host of dignitaries including former Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Ernest Ndukwe who was the Special Guest of Honour; Chairman, Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh; Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, RahulDe; Chairman, Board of Directors, Technology Distributions Ltd., Prof. Anya O. Anya; representatives of Corporate Nigeria and bank CEOs; representatives of partner organizations MTN, TD Mobile, sub-dealers and other stakeholders from the ICT eco-system.

Celebrities Ali Baba and Naeto C were also on hand to spice up the event.
