I want to pursue something more "useful to the world" than "helping ship brown boxes" for Amazon.

The seattle police department chief right now, is heaving a sigh of relief, following her statement to AP, announcing the employment of Greg Russell, a former top executive at amazon, as the police department’s chief information officer.

She said that the seattle police department has been shopping for the right person to fill that position for years. In her own words;”The Seattle Police Department has searched for years for solutions to its technological woes such as implementing body cameras and fulfilling the mounting public requests for video while protecting privacy.”

Greg Russell,the man who got the job as the chief information officer of the seattle police department, was a top executive at amazon. His impressive resume will make anyone in the tech industry wonder why a man of great expertise and experience will leave a thriving corporation like amazon and opt to work with the seattle police department.

Greg Russell rose to the position of the vice president in charge of corporate applications and information technology, in addition to his previous executive position at Cisco and Flextronics. He said in addition to the fact that seattle is his home town, he wants to pursue something more "useful to the world" than "helping ship brown boxes" for Amazon.

According to him, “Amazon was a fabulous company to be at. I learned so much. That’s the smartest team I have ever worked with. It grew me as an individual. But, really, what I’m doing is helping ship brown boxes across the universe.”

The seattle police department public information officer Detective Patrick Michaud said to Mashable on Thursday, that Greg has the knowledge of the technology end that the department really needs.

He rejected the job offer initially, but called back a week later to change his mind and accept, a source close to the seattle police department’s new chief information officer added.
