MTN SA CEO who resigned last week moves to Etihad Etisalat

Last week, Pulse Tech reported Ahmad Farroukh’s resignation as the CEO of MTN South Africa due to personal and family reasons.

According to reports, Saudi Arabia-based telco, Etihad Etisalat which trades as Mobily has named AhmadFarroukh as its new chief executive.

According to report by Reuters, Mobily’s chairman was quoted in a publication last week as saying the company would soon name a new CEO after the previous CEO was removed in February due to accounting irregularities.

”[Farroukh has] a proven track record of success in the area of financial management, audit and operation,” Mobily said, according to the report.

Sources say Farroukh will leave MTN for his new job by July 31, 2015. Furthermore, his resignation from MTN is generally seen as resulting from the protests by the company’s workers’ union over unpaid salaries and bonuses.
