$370,000 worth of Apple’s latest smartphone gets stolen

The iPhone X went on sale in stores around the world today, Friday, November 3, 2017.

The robbers were believed to have been tracking the movement of the iPhone X in a UPS truck parked outside an Apple store in San Francisco.

Units of Apple’s most costly device iPhone X worth $370,000 have been reported stolen according to local news reports.

The incident was said to have occurred between 11:15am and 11:30am PT Wednesday morning. The driver of the UPS truck had locked the vehicle after parking outside the Stonestown Galleria mall, and went to a nearby Macy's to make another delivery. During that time the thieves, managed to break in and take off in a white Dodge van with all 313 of the $999+ devices.

The police authorities say they believe the thieves were tracking the truck and knew what they were going after. “Given the dollar value in the incident itself it appears it was planned," said SFPD Captain Rick Yick. UPS and Apple are working with police on the investigation. Each phone that was stolen had its IMEI serial number catalogued along with a description.

Apple might not really feel the impact much of these stolen phones, that is, of course, if it never gets recovered, with the company being reported to be closer than ever to becoming the first-ever trillion dollar company in the US after its fourth-quarter earnings report.
