Embracing the irony of a very popular Nigerian cliché which holds that Igbo people are inherently responsible for all things fake in this country, Chukwudozie “Grey” Maduabum, Founder and CEO Counterfeit Designs, decided to form the company that today makes some of the best indigenous handmade shoes you will ever find.
Maduabum 'Grey' Chukwudozie - Counterfeit Designs
Counterfeit Designs offers uniquely packaged bespoke shoes handmade in Nigeria, both male and female, including brogues, monk straps, oxford shoes, loafers, and various other kinds of shoes.
An indigene of Oba, AnambraState, Maduabum loved to draw and design from an early age. He never took the Counterfeit Design brand serious until 2011 when he started a clothing line. In 2014, Maduabum’s vision for Counterfeit Designs took another direction – shoe making. He decided to rebrand and focus solely on shoes and has not looked back since.
”I wanted to make shoes because there is a never ending demand for shoes which I feel are not being met on a satisfactory level, not just because of the money I could get from it but also because of the passion I have for shoes and I knew I had good ideas to reach those levels,” said Maduabum.
“Also it makes me happy to see people wear something I’ve created. My business is all about making the right shoe at very affordable prices because I feel like everybody deserves that nice shoe to complete his/her outfit.”
Counterfeit Designs offers uniquely packaged bespoke shoes handmade in Nigeria, both male and female, including brogues, monk straps, oxford shoes, loafers, and various other kinds of shoes at very affordable prices strictly by order.
