British Billionaire launches new venture

The new member of Branson’s extensive group will operate high energy events and celebratory occasions aimed at bringing families and communities together with a focus on changing the health and wellness game for good.

Virgin Group owner and British billionaire, Richard Branson, announced the launch of his latest venture – Virgin Sport, on the company’s website today.

The new member of Branson’s extensive group will operate high energy events and celebratory occasions aimed at bringing families and communities together with a focus on changing the health and wellness game for good.

The virgin boss in the post, said health and fitness were close to his heart, giving memories of his adventures into the health and fitness world.

According to Branson, Virgin sport will expand the reach of mass participatory events in running, cycling and others. There will also be events geared at raising money for charity.

Branson is hoping the company hits the ground running and has employed Mary Wittenberg, CEO of New York Road Runners (NYRR) for the past 10 years, to that effect. While she was at NYRR, Wittenberg helped organize the famous New York marathon along with over 50 other events.
