Oyegun denies APC youths storming Secretariat to insult party leader

John Oyegun has denied reports that some APC youths had stormed the party secretariat to insult the person of Bola Tinubu.

Bola Tinubu and the APC Chairman, John Oyegun

According to a report by TheCable, Oyegun denied being behind the youth protest at the APC headquarters against alleged highhandedness of Tinubu.

He said: “God forbid. Anybody who knows me knows that this is not my style. I’m equally shocked and I’m going to look into it and find out why and who is behind it.”

Oyegun further stressed that though he has different opinions and perspective from Tinubu's own, he has no rift with the party's National Leader.

On their brief handshake at the book launch in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari, Oyegun said his relationship with the ex-Governor dates many years back.

“Do they know how far back our association goes? Do they know that we were in the trenches together in the NADECO days?

“Why can’t people who have mutual respect for each other have different opinions? All we had was difference of opinions. Yes it was expressed a bit harshly but that doesn’t remove the basic fact that we have worked together for a very long time,” he said.

The reported crack in the relationship between Oyegun and Tinubu was first noticed after the APC governorshipprimary election in Ondo state.
