The situation has been worsened by the ongoing verbal battle between former governor, Rotimi Amaechi and his successor, Nyesom Wike.

The elections are being seen as a battle for supremacy between Wike and Amaechi who have been at loggerheads since a nasty fallout in 2014.

Both men have issued veiled threats on how they intend to display their political might during the polls giving rise to fears that there might be bloodshed.
