Police stop party's staff from entering secretariat

The security officials were said to have been directed by the PDP leadership to keep the employees out of the complex.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh

The disagreement between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its staff took a dramatic turn when on Tuesday, August, 4, 2015, the workers were prevented from entering the party’s secretariat by police officers.

The party and its workers are currently at loggerheads over the PDP’s plans to retrench some staff and slash the salaries of the remainder by 50 per cent.

The policemen reportedly kept the staff outside the gate until 10am when they received a call instructing them to allow the workers in.

The PDP staff had earlier accused the party’s leadership of squandering N12 billion in nine months but National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh has said that no amount of blackmail would daunt the party or keep it from taking necessary action.
