The Edo APC made the denial via a statement released by Publicity Secretary, Mr Godwin Erhahon on February 1, 2016.
It reads:
“We are very sure that Oshiomhole appreciates the unalloyed loyalty of his deputy, Dr. Odubu, and as such has no hands in such plot even when they differ on who succeeds him or how such successor should emerge.”
“Oshiomhole is reputed for his tolerance of opposition in any contest and his self-confidence and courage to challenge and defeat his opponent through superior arguments and conventional strategy.”
“Therefore, any attempt to link our governor with such vicious strategy as impeachment of a loyal deputy for the purpose of disabling him in his governorship ambition can only come from enemies of peace and progress who are bent on causing disaffection between the duo of the governor and his amiable deputy.”
The allegation had been raised by a group, Let the People Lead Vanguard, which accused members of the Edo House of Assembly of planning to impeach Odubu due to his ambition to succeed Oshiomhole as governor.
