Violence erupts in Akure over Jimoh Ibrahim's inclusion in polls

Angry youths took over Akure following Jimoh Ibrahim's inclusion in the Ondo Governorship election polls.

According to a report by SaharaReporters, thousands of aggrieved youths staged a protest against the candidature of Ibrahim ahead of the November 26, 2016 governorship election.

It was further reported that the protesters in Akure blocked the major roads and entrance of the popular Oba Adesida, Isolo, Arakale, and Oyemekun road in the capital city.

The protesters, who destroyed campaign posters and billboards of Ibrahim, were also reported to have barricaded all the adjourning routes to the streets of the state capital brandishing dangerous weapons such as stones, sticks, and machetes.
